Design
Go-Dap X design is very sleek, slim, and portable. The overall dimension is just a bit larger than iphone 4s. It’s much thinner than HP-P1 (only 17mm thick). It come with two choices of colors correspond to OpAmp: NJR MUSES8920 (Red) and TI Burr-Brown OPA 2134 (Black). Other than OpAmp, all specifications are the same between two model. Case is made of aluminium with two rubber feet mounted at the bottom side where the logo “Go-Dap Headphone Amplifier” is located between rubber foot. Four star-type screws hold the package together at each corner. Volume knob located at the top side of the Go-Dap X along with headphone/optical jack on one side of volume knob and two switches on the other. At the bottom, one micro-B USB connector, one standard USB, and gain switch are located. On the side are two switchs for battery check/bass boost and 3D-VSS (3-dimensional virtual surround sound). 4 LED lights are sit next to battery/bass boost switch.

มาดูที่การออกแบบกันก่อนครับ
รูปทรงสวยงามและกระทัดรัดมากครับ หนากว่า iphone เล็กน้อยแต่ก็ยังบางกว่า HP-P1 เยอะครับ (17มม เท่านั้น) รุ่นนี้มีสองแบบให้เลือกครับต่างกันที่ OpAmp ครับ สีแดงใช้ NJR MUSES9820 ส่วนสีดำนั้นเป็น TI Burr-Brown OPA2134 ครับส่วนสเป็กที่เหลือเหมือนกันหมดครับ ตัว DAC นั้นทำจากอลูมิเนียมด้านล่างมียางสองชิ้นรองเป็นฐานไว้ดูได้ตามรูปครับ ตรงกลางมีโลโก้ของ Go-Dap X แปะอยู่บริเวณหัวมุมมีน็อตรูปดาวยึดไว้ทั้งสี่ด้าน ปุ่มปรับเสียงจะอยู่ทางด้านบนพร้อมกับช่องเสียบหูฟังทำหน้าที่เป็น Optical out ด้วยครับ ด้านล่างมี micro-B USB กับ standard USB A อยู่ gain switch ก็อยู่ตรงนี้ด้วยครับ ส่วนด้านข้างจะมีปุ่มอีกสองปุ่ม อันแรกเอาไว้เช็คแบตกับปรับ bass boost ครับ ส่วนอันที่สองเป็นฟังก์ชันพีเศษ 3D-VSS ครับ ข้างๆปุ่มแรกจะมีไฟ LED อยู่ 4 ดวงช่วยแสดงสถานะของแบตครับ

Functions
The main function of Go-Dap X is DAC/Amp for iDevices. It uses iPod Accessory Protocol to bypass the internal DAC in iDevices and send it through AKM AK4353 24 bits DAC chip before enter OpAmp. Go-Dap X also function as a USB DAC/Amp for PC/Mac. There is a selector switch on the top of Go-Dap X to choose between iAMP(iDevices) or USB_DAC (PC/Mac). It can also act as a transport that send digital audio signal from iphone to external DAC through 3.5mm optical S/PDIF plug on the top. DAC and Amp section of Go-Dap can’t be used separately. In the other word, you can’t use it as a standalone DAC or Amp. Go-Dap X can act like a external battery pack and charge iDevices with the supply of 2200 mAh Li-polymer internal battery. According to the user manual, it took about 5 hours to fully charge Go-Dap X and 7 hours of playback time (Amp only not charging iDevices). Go-Dap X equip with bass boost function. Only on/off is available. 3D-VSS function provide the imitation of 3D surround sound environment.

มาดูกันที่ฟังก์ชันที่มีอยู่บ้างครับ
หลักๆเลยคือการดึงข้อมูลเพลงจาก iphone โดยไม่ต้องผ่าน DAC ของ iphone ครับ DAC ของ Go-Dap X นั้นใช้ของ Asahi Keisai Microdevices AK4353 24bits ครับ แล้วส่งเข้าภาคขยายอีกทีครับ ตัว Go-Dap X สามารถใช้งานเป็น DAC/Amp สำหรับเตรืองคอมได้ด้วยครับ ปุ่มสำหรับเลือกนั้นอยู่ทางด้านบนของเครื่องนอกจากนั้นยังมี transport mode ซึ่งจะส่งสัญญาณดิจิทัลออกไปโดยไม่ผ่าน DAC ออกมาทางช่อง optical out ครับ DAC กับ Amp ของ Go-Dap X ไม่สามารถแยกออกจากกันได้ กล่าวคือไม่สามารถใช้เพียงแค่ Amp หรือ DAC อย่างเดียวได้ ต้องคู่กันตลอด นอกจากนี้ยังสามารถชาร์ต iphone ได้ด้วยเพราะมีแบตขนาด 2200 mAh ในตัวครับ แบตของ Go-Dap X ใช้เวลาชาร์ตประมาณ 5 ชั่วโมงและสามารถเล่นได้ประมาณ 7 ชั่วโมงครับ Go-Dap X ยังมีฟังก์ชัน bass boost มาให้ด้วยแต่ไม่ได้มีหลายระดับ แค่เปิดกับปิดเท่านั้น อีกฟังก์ชันคือ 3D-VSS เป็นการเลียนแบบเสียงสามมิติรอบทิศทางครับ

Setup:
Test rig is iphone 4s, iphone 4s+Fiio E11, or iphone 4s+Go-Dap X. Headphones are UE Triple Fi10 Pro (TF10), Westone 4R (W4R), and FitEar To Go! 334 (TG334). I’ll compare above setting with three different iems that have different character.

iphone 4s:
TF10 is bass and high pronounced but recessed in mid. W4R is, in my opinion, on the opposite end of TF10 with pronounced mid, recessed bass, and neutral high. TG334 is in between TF10 and W4R where bass is not as pronounced as TF10. Mid of TG334 is a little forwarded but not as much as W4R. High is exceptionally clear and extended. Sound stage of TF10 is wide but not deep but considerably much wider than W4R. TG334 is also have wide sound stage but not the same as TF10. However, TG334’s sound stage is a little bit deeper than TF10. Amount of bass in TG334 might not be in the same level of TF10 but the quality is exceptionally superb. The details of the bass coming out from TG334 is second to none as for all frequency range. TG334 is the easiest to drive by iphone alone. With my listening level, TF10 and W4R need to be about 3/4 of iphone volume while TG344 stay only half.

รีวิวนี้ผมจะใช้ iphone 4s, iphone 4s+Fiio E11, iphone 4s+Go-Dap X ครับ ส่วนหูฟังนั้นมี Ultimate Ears Triple Fi 10 Pro, Westone 4R และ FitEar To Go! 334 ครับ ซื้อหูทัั้งสามตัวมีเสียงที่ค่อยข้างแตกต่างกันอยู่พอสมควรเลยทีเดียว
เริ่มกันที่ iphone 4s เปล่าๆก่อนเลยครับ:
TF10 นั้นอย่างที่รู้กันครับว่าเบสกับเสียงแหลมค่อนข้างจะโดดเด่นในขณะที่เสียงกลางนั้นเรียกได้ว่าหดหายไปค่อนข้างเยอะครับ ในทางกลับกัน W4R นั้นเสียงกลางนั้นโดดเด่นอย่างมากในขณะที่เบสแทบจะไม่มีเลยครับ เสียงแหลมนั้นทำได้ค่อนข้างดีแต่ก็ยังไม่เท่า TF10 ครับ ตัว TG334 นั้นเรียกได้ว่าครบเครื่องครับ ทำได้ดีในทุกย่านเสียงเบสอาจไม่หนักเท่ากับ TF10 แต่คุณภาพหรือรายละเอียดนั้นไม่เป็นรองใครครับ ช่วงเสียงกลางที่ค่อนข้างโดดเด่นเล็กน้อย แต่ที่เด่นมากๆของ TG334 คือรายละเอียดที่สามารถรีดออกมาได้อย่างดีเยี่ยมในทุกช่วงความถี่ตั้งแต่ต่ำไปจนถึงสูงครับ ช่วงความถี่สูงนั้นยอดเยี่ยมเหนือคำบรรยายครับ เปรียบเทียบความยากง่ายในการขับหูทุกตัวต้องถือว่า TG334 นั้นขับได้ง่ายกว่า TF10 และ W4R ครับ ที่ระดับเสียงเดียวกันนั้น iphone 4s จะอยู่ที่ 3/4 สำหรับ TF10 และ W4R ส่วน TG334 นั้นแค่ครึ่งเดียวเท่านั้น

iphone 4s+Fiio E11:
This combination reveal the details hidden in most of the tracks. Bass become more tight while high is extended further. TF10 bass still at the same level with a little bit more details. Mid doesn't improve that much but high is extended further but sometime feel annoying a bit. W4R bass become tighter with a little improve in quantity. Mid details become clearer with significant improve at high. TG334's bass is improved a bit while mid and high extended further. Sound stage for all iems are almost no change. With E11, each instrument become clearer especially TF10. Overall, TF10 improvement is the highest among three iems with E11.

เมื่อต่อกับ E11 แล้วรายละเอียดบางส่วนที่ไม่เห็นใน iphone 4s สามารถที่จะแสดงออกมาได้ครับ เบสกระชับขึ้นอยากเห็นได้ชัดส่วนเสียงสูงนั้นก็ยืดออกไปอีก ระดับเบสของ TF10 นั้นยังคงไม่เปลี่ยนแปลงแต่รายละเอียดที่สามารถแสดงออกมาได้นั้นดีขึ้นครับ ช่วงเสียงกลางยังคงไม่ได้ดีขึ้นแต่ได้รายละเอียดมากขึ้นนิดนึงครับเสียงสูงนั้นยืดออกไปอีกครับแต่บางครั้งก็อาจทำให้หงุดหงิดเล็กน้อยเพราะเสียงสูงได้ครับ เบสของ W4R นั้นยังคงอยู่ในระดับเดิมแต่มีรายละเอียดที่เพิ่มขึ้นมาเสียงกลางนั้นใสขึ้น ส่วนเสียงสูงนั้นดีขึ้นอย่างเห็นได้ชัด TG334 นั้นโดยรวมแล้วได้รายละเอียดที่เพิ่มขึ้นในทุกย่านเสียงครับ Sound stage ของหูทุกตัวนั้นแทบจะไม่เปลี่ยนแปลงแต่ชิ้นดนตรีแต่ละชิ้นนั้นชัดเจนขึ้นครับ สำหรับ E11 นั้นเมื่อเอาไปคู่กับ TF10 แล้วถือว่าดีขึ้นกว่าตัวอื่นเป็นอย่างมากครับ

ระเอียดมากทีเดียวครับ

iphone 4s+Go-Dap X:
The improvement from without amp or with E11 to the Go-Dap X is incredible. The details that I never heard before with the previous setting come alive. With more details in low, mid, and high. However, the quantity of bass is somehow laggin while mid and high are superb. This might be the characteristic of OpAmp MUSES8920. I didn't try the other OpAmp OPA2134. Bass boost function will bring back the bass with slightly loss in clarity but that is acceptable. From what I feel, MUSES8920 improve mid and high not to the next level but getting closer. TF10 might get some push back in low but mid is improving a lot while high is extended further. W4R's bass is completely gone T_T but high become alive. TG334 might be the winner here in term of improvement. High become clear and more forward comparable to mid. Bass is a bit gone but tighter and more details. Sound stage is not that wider but definitely deeper compare to E11.

มาต่อกันที่ iphone 4s+Go-Dap X ครับ:
เมื่อต่อกับ Go-Dap X แล้วสามารถเห็นถึงความแตกต่างระหว่างที่ไม่มี Amp หรือ มี E11 ได้ชัดเจนครับ รายละเอียดที่ไม่เคยได้ยินมาก่อนออกมาให้เห็นเลยครับ รายละเอียดทั้งช่วงเบส กลางแล้วก็สูงทำได้ดีเยียม แต่ว่าปริมาณเบสนั้นหายไปอย่างเห็นได้ชัดเลยครับ นี่อาจเป็นเพราะว่า OpAmp ตัวนี้ (MUSES8920X มีเสียงแบบนี้ก็เป็นได้ ผมยังไม่เคยลองกับ OpAmp อีกตัว(OPA2134) ครับ แต่ที่เห็นได้ชัดสำหรับ OpAmp ตัวนี้คือเสียงกลางและสูงนั้นดีขึ้นอย่างเห็นได้ชัด เบสของ TF10 นั้นอาจจะหดหายไปบ้างแต่ เสียงกลางนั้นดีขึ้นครับส่วนเสียงสูงก็ยังทำได้ดีกว่า E11 ครับ เบสของ W4R นั้นหายไปเลยครับ T_T แต่เสียงสูงนั้นดีขึ้นแบบเห็นได้ชัดเลยครับ TG334 นั้นเรียกได้ว่าชนะขาดในชุดนี้ครับช่วงเสียงสูงที่ยืดออกไปบวกกับรายละเอียดที่ชัดเจนขึ้นมาก เสียงสูงนั้นเข้าไปใกล้เสียงกลางที่โดดเด่นอยู่แล้ว เบสนั้นอาจจะหายไปเล็กน้อยแต่กระชับขึ้นพร้อมกับรายละเอียดที่มากขึ้นครับ Sound stage นั้นไม่ได้กว้างชึ้นมากนักแต่ลึกขึ้นครับเมื่อเทียบกับ E11

Conclusion:
With Go-Dap X, improvement is clearly there. Significant improvement from E11 but still not a step up. One downside is the bass issue that significantly reduce in quantity compare to with/without E11 (MUSES8920). I need to try it with other OpAmp. Reading from online article, it state that sound quality of Go-Dap Unit 4.0 and Go-Dap X are very similar and not that inferior to HP-P1 or CLAS. With the price tag of HP-P1 and CLAS, Go-Dap X is cost less than those two. It's consider good choice to buy.

P.S. One need to be careful while using very sensitive iems/cans with Go-Dap X. At very low volume, there is a present of channel imbalance.

สรุปครับ:
เมื่อใช้ Go-Dap X เสียงที่ได้นั้นดีขึ้นอย่างเห็นได้ชัด เมื่อเทียบกับ E11 เสียงที่ได้ดีขึ้นมากแต่ก็ไม่ถึงว่าจะดีขึ้นไปอีกระดับนึงเลย ข้อด้อยที่เห็นได้ชัดของ Go-Dap X คือเบสที่ลดลงไปอย่างเห็นได้ชัด แต่ก็อาจเป็นเพราะ OpAmp ที่ผมเลือกมา (MUSES8920) ผมต้องไปลอง OpAmp อีกตัวดูด้วย (OPA2134) จากที่อ่านในบอร์ดต่างประเทศ ว่ากันว่า Go-Dap Unit 4.0 กับ Go-Dap X นั้นแทบจะไม่ต่างกันเลยในเรื่องของเสียงซึ่ง Go-Dap Unit 4.0 นั้นก็ไม่ได้ด้อยไปกว่า HP-P1 หรือ CLAS มากนัก ด้วยราคาที่แพงของทั้ง HP-P1 กับ CLAS ทำให้ Go-Dap X น่าจะเป็นตัวเลือกที่คุ้มค้าครับ

ป.ล. ข้อควรระวังสำหรับท่านที่จะเอาไปใช้กับหูฟังที่ sensitive ครับ เนื่องจากที่ volume ต่ำนั้นมี channel imbalance อยู่ดังนั้นโปรดระวังให้ดีครับ

ความแตกต่างระหว่าง E11 กับ Go-Dap X ที่เห็นได้ชัดอยากแรกเลยคือ Background Noise ครับ

E11 นั้น background noise เยอะมากครับบิด volume นิดเดียวมากันเต็มเลย ส่วน Go-Dap X นั้นต้องบิดไปถึงครึ่งนึงถึงจะเริ่มมาครับ

ทั้ง E11 แล้วก็ Go-Dap X มี Channel imbalance ที่ volume ต่ำๆทั้งคู่นะครับใครใช้หูที่ sensitive มากๆควรหลีกเลี่ยง

อันนี้เป็นหนึ่งในเพลงที่ผมใช้เทสครับ

วันนี้ลองนั่งเล่นฟังก์ชั่น 3D-VSS ดูครับ

สามารถทำให้จากที่รู้สึกว่านั่งฟังอยู่ใน Studio กลายเป็นอยู่ใน Concert Hall ได้ครับ กว้างและลึกขึ้นอย่างเห็นได้ชัด เสียงกลางกับแหลมโดดขึ้นมาเยอะส่วนเบสก็ลดลงไปอีกหน่อย แต่คุญภาพของเสียงตกลงไปพอสมควร

จากที่ลองกับหลายๆเพลงแล้วพบว่าไม่ได้จะดีขึ้นกับทุกเพลง บางเพลงที่เสียงร้องเด่นๆจะเด่นขึ้นจนน่ารำคาญได้ ส่วนพวกไลฟ์จะกลายเป็นนั่งอยู่แถวหลังๆไปเลยครับ ที่เหมาะๆเห็นจะเป็นพวกแนว acoustic ล่ะครับ

ไม่ใช่ว่าจะใช้ได้กับ iDevices/PC เท่านั้น แม้แต่ Android (JB) ก็ใช้ได้ด้วย
