The driver housing is plastic and have a nice design, I think they look pretty nice. They feel like they're well made and shouldn't brake as long as your not just bashing them around or sitting on them or something. The cable has a cloth like wrap on it just like what the Tandem has and can get tangled up a little bit but nothing that's to bad. The plug has that 45 degree angle to like the Ety HF5 and RE262 and has a good strain relief on it so all in all build quality is pretty good.
They fit very well and the stock tips that came on them work perfect for me but with all the tips they include no one should have a problem getting a good fit and seal with these. They're very light so you can wear them for long periods of time without getting fatigued. I'd say the microphonics are about average so nothing to bad.
Sound Quality,
Bass - The bass is one of the focal points of the Consonance with its strong impact and really good depth so if your coming from something like the S4 you'll like the bass on these much more imo. They have a nice texture with a good full sound to them and I think they can compare very well next to the MG7 though those have a little better texture to the really deep bass. Compared to the VB the Consonance wont have as much as the VB with the extreme bass ports in but sounds just as good as the VB with the other 2 ports though, so these have really good bass imo.
Mids - They have the classic consumer V-shaped mids but they still have a good amount of detail to them. I don't think they're as recessed as some other V-shaped IEM's and vocals are to distant sounding on these either. The mids have a smoother presentation but don't have the detail of say the TF10 or some other more expensive IEM's but I got to say that the Consonance is a very fun IEM to listen to so I'm enjoying them quite a bit as I've reviewed them.
Highs - As you would think with the V-shaped sound the highs have a good bit of sparkle to them and they're quite crisp. Detailing is also very good for its price range and I'm not really missing anything in the high end at all. I haven't noticed much if any sibilance so that's not going to be an issue with the Consonance.
Soundstage - I think the soundstage is very good for an IEM under $80. Its a bit above average in width and depth but the height isn't as well represented as on others but they all cost quite a bit more than these do. Instrument separation is good along with decent imaging though again more expensive IEM's will give you better imaging and separation but the Consonance is very good in its price range.
Conclusion - I've quite enjoyed reviewing the Consonance as it has a very fun sound signature along with good driving deep bass and a above average soundstage for an IEM costing under $100. I think someone with a pair of S4's looking for an IEM with that sound but does it better the Consonance is a very good option and even though I'm normally listening to top-tier's these were really a nice well priced set to listen to.
