i.Tech Clip R35 - Owner's Review
I've been meaning to make a review about this little device for a very long time. Since there's been a lot of talk about Wi-fi and Bluetooth as part of the features that the next-gen mp4 players could bring I finally decided to let you know about this Bluetooth device.

First Impression:
The i.Tech Clip R35 is a small device that looks like those clips for closing a bag of chips. It is very light and the construction is of good quality strong plastic. It has 2 buttons on top, play/pause button and function button, and a 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom side. The device comes with nice pair of iTech headphones, a single headphone to use as handsfree mic, a neck cord to clip you R35 to it, a wall charger, USB charger, and a software CD. It supports A2DP Profiles and AVRCP Profiles.
Handsfree & Headset:
The R35 can be used either as a Bluetooth handsfree device or as wireless headphone. If you use it in your cell phone for example it will work as a handsfree and you can speak wirelessly as it has a built it mic. If you use it in your PC with an USB dongle you can use it either as a Bluetooth headset or as what is called an AV device. In Bluetooth headset mode you can use it as a wireless microphone/headphones at the same time, allowing you to play multiplayer games for example, and hear the sounds while using the mic to talk to other players. In AV service you hear every sound that the computer generates in Stereo high quality sound.
Sound Quality:
The sound quality of this device varies according to which feature you are using. When you use it as a handsfree the sound is as good as any other device of this kind. The sound is mono and of a low compression rate. This is I believe due to the actual type of Bluetooth service, not because of the player. I say this because once you use the AV service you see how different it is. The sound is clear, crisp and very good. The difference between having your headphones connected to the R35 and directly to the PC is barely noticeable.
About Headphones:
The R35 has a special feature that I really like bout it. It has a 3.5mm audio jack for you to use any type of headphone that you want. Most of the devices that copycat the R35 have attached headphones so in this the R35 is unique. It comes with two types of headphones, a pair of stereo headphones and a single headphone cable for when you use it as a handsfree.
Battery Life and Charging
The iTech Clip R35 can be changed using either the wall charger or the USB cable. Both connect to the same charging jack at the bottom side of the device. Battery life in this device is very good. I can use it for almost 6 hours of continuous use. It charges completely in about 2 hours.
About A2DP & AVRCP Profiles
The A2DP & AVRCP Profiles are basically two types of format for audio that are normally used on PMP devices. Usually phones that support MP3 playback use one of this formats for Bluetooth headphones. So you can use the R35 as a handsfree and as wireless headphones. I've never used it in this way but for what Ive read some people say it works well while others say it doesn?t. I guess it all depends on your phone.
Set-up:
This device is Bluetooth certified so it uses all the conventional ways of setting it up as any other device of its kind. Simply press the function button until it lights up red and blue intermittently. That will put the R35 on "Find Me" mode. After that just use your cell phone or Bluetooth dongle to find any devices and you will see it available. The password to access it is "8888".
