Marantz PM-64 MkII Integrated amplifier for sale.Quite rare in the UK, this is the junior
model in Marantz's top of the range Quarter A series, being a slightly down-specced
PM-84 with the MOS-FETs of the PM-84 and PM-94 replaced with regular output
devices and with a simpler MC stage. Don't confuse with the lower end offerings - PM54,
45 etc.. these are very different in design and performance. However, much is shared
between PMs 94, 84 and 64 apart from just cosmetics, with quality build and components,
Elna caps, ALPS Blue volume pot, ALPS pots, ALPS remote switching
(like that found in the Naim NAC32.5/72), lots of copper bits and beautiful alloy fascia,
knobs etc.. throughout. Runs in Class A up to quarter power. Gets very warm even at idle,
so probably truer Class A than most. Big, heavy beast of an amp with some serious
power - 100w/ch into 8 ohms, 160w/ch into 4 ohms, 300w impulse power. Fully featured
too with MM/MC phono stage, CD/Phono direct, 2 tape loops, 2 Aux inputs, tuner input,
separate L+R Bass and Treble controls with a bypass switch, 2 sets of speaker connectors
on large binding posts.
